If you have ever spent hours looking for a good domain name, you know how frustrating that can be. You will never find the domain that you really want because most of them are already taken. This is when you settle down for a long, complicated name that isn’t that appealing.
But what if we say that you can still get hold of an awesome domain name with good backlink profile and great authority?
Well, yes.
And this is where DROPPED or EXPIRED DOMAINS come into the picture.
What are Expired Domains?
An expired domain (or dropped domain) is a domain that someone (an individual, organization, or company) must have purchased earlier, but wouldn’t have renewed after their contract ended with the registrar.
An expired domain can be in any one of these 3 states:
- Available: This means that the domain hasn’t been renewed and is released.
- Just Renewed: This means that the owner has renewed the domain in the last 24 hours of expiry date.
- Pending: This means that the domain is still pending to be deleted. If you want the domain, you can try backordering it.
Thousands of domain names expire every day. Though most of these are trash (with no backlink profile and domain authority), there are some aged domains with excellent backlinks.
You can filter such domains easily with the help of metrics from:
These domains are great for building PBNs (Private Blog Networks) and money sites.
What happens when a domain expires?
Once a domain expires, it is deactivated or hindered from use immediately. This means that if you try to open and access the website, it won’t work. However, the owner of the domain will still have 30-days time to renew it, but can’t make any change to it.
Why should you buy expired domains?
An old, expired domain is far better than registering a new one.
Why?
Because it already has good backlink profile, would have had some traffic, and it might also have a good PR (Page Rank). Moreover, it should have already indexed on major search engines.
If you pick an expired domain that already has good age history and trust, then it is great for SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
How come some Domains have Authority?
This is a good question. Let’s make it simple though.
When someone says that they have a domain with good authority, they are actually talking of 4 important factors, which include:
- Domain Authority (DA)
- Page Authority (PA)
- Trust Flow (TF)
- Citation Flow (CF)
- Spam free
If a website’s DA, PA, TF, and CF is really high and is free from spam links, then, it means that it has good authority.
A good example for this would be “google.com.” If you check its DA, it will be really high. Obviously, its “GOOGLE.” So, you can imagine its authority.
Now, here’s a quick question for you.
Would you prefer registering a new domain with “0” DA, PA, TF, and CF or buy an expired domain that already has decent numbers in these?
Well, the answer is apparent here.
Buy an expired domain that already has good DA, PA, TF, and CF – rather than registering a new domain and building authority from the scratch. This is a smart move and that’s literally what we are going to tell you now.
What can you do with Expired Domains?
Though there are plenty of things that EXPIRED or DROPPED DOMAINS can be used for, most use them in 3 ways:
- Build authority websites
- Build PBNs (Private Blog Network)
- Perform 301 redirects
