Founded by Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, a well-known humanitarian leader, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a multi-disciplinary institution with six campuses spread across Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The university has its headquarters in Ettimadai in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Amrita University is considered as one among the best private universities in India.

- Infrastructure – All the campuses of the university have world-class infrastructures spread across huge areas. The campuses have well-equipped laboratories, modern gyms, well-stocked libraries, easily accessible locations, vast recreational areas, tennis, badminton and basketball courts and swimming pools. The campuses also provide excellent residential facilities with reading rooms, TV rooms and canteens. The university also provides students with several facilities to take part in various extra-curricular activities and cultural programmes.
- Faculty – Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has an excellent team of distinguished, qualified as well as experienced faculty members. The teachers work non-stop to provide quality education and inculcate professional skills in the students. The worst part of being in Amrita University:
- Strictness – The University takes discipline very seriously. The rules and guidelines are very strict and rigid. The college strongly stresses the importance of punctuality and proper uniform code. Moreover, the hostels have several restrictions and have very strict timings for entry and exit. Also, the outing is permitted only once a week.
- Food – Although the food provided by the canteen is healthy and hygienic, the quality has a room for improvement.
- Practical training – The University focuses a little more on providing theoretical education than practical training.
