How to Create a Business Page on Social Media

These days, a business that isn’t present on social media is a business that’s likely going to fail, or at least run into trouble.

The very first place people go to look for businesses in 2022 is the social media apps on their phones. If your company name doesn’t come up in a search, best believe that one of your competitors will. This is why having a business page on various social media platforms is essential. Here’s how to do it.

Set Up the Basics

First of all, simply set up the accounts, fill in your business name, and add your logo as the profile picture.

On Facebook, create a custom banner for your cover photo – this is one of the biggest elements on your page and the first thing your audience will see, so make sure it looks good. These are the very basics and most important aspects – once your page is up, it’s searchable and you can start adding content.

Create a Business Bio

Next up is to add some details about your company. In the bio area, add a short description of your business and what it offers.

You can also add your location, operating hours, contact details such as email addresses and telephone numbers, and any other important info that your customers might be on the lookout for.

Add Your Links

Next, you can add links to your social media page. You need to add a link to your business website, which is the most important link to add. This is where customers will be able to find more details (the stuff you can’t really fit on a social media page) as well as be able to do online shopping, request quotes, etc.

On Instagram, you’re only allowed to place one link in your bio. Many businesses (and personal accounts) use third-party apps like LinkTree that allow you to branch multiple links together.

Use Your Brand Colours

You want your social media page to look good, as well as be functional. Curating your feed to look cohesive and on-brand is always a good idea.

Use your brand colours and matching design elements in all the images you post. This helps to make everything look neat and put-together, but also helps build an association with your company.

Plan Your Posts

There are also apps to help you plan your Instagram feed, which can assist in creating the perfect aesthetic. These apps allow you to place your pictures and designs into a fake Instagram grid.

This allows you to get a birds-eye view of what your feed would look like if you were to post those images. You can then swap them around to create the perfect look without having to actually use the Instagram app.

Create a Schedule

Finally, regular posting is important for the algorithm, boosting engagement and reaching more followers. Developing a social media calendar is a good idea for businesses.

Assess when your engagement is highest, and create a schedule that aligns with your data. This will help you to post regularly and at the right times.
