ieGeek 2K Wireless Rechargeable Battery Outdoor Security Camera ZS-GX3S

My first impression after unboxing was how small and solidly made the device is. The small size of the device made it unobtrusive. And it’s very neat. I have been trying out the following features and playing with the camera in these few days, it brings me a lot of great experience.

1. IP65 Waterproof Design

The ZS-GX3S Camera is designed to be totally weatherproof as you would expect, the switches, SD card socket and charge point are sealed in with a tight fitting, removeable rubber bung. The simple swivelling fixing bracket should allow you to fix easily and orientate the camera perfectly.

2. Easy to Set up

The connection to Wi-Fi is clearly explained in the well written manual and simple to do. While the device was on charge, I downloaded the APP using the QR code. The APP takes you step by step through the quick setup and minutes, I was seeing the camera view on my phone screen.

I was amazed how well thought out the product is, when I explored the range of settings available in the APP. I tried to imagine the different ways this device might be used and provided you follow the guidance in the manual, you won’t be disappointed.

3. Monitor Remotely via the Phone

One use I have for the camera is my back yard. When you are away from home, you can still manage the camera using your phone data. Wherever I am, I can monitor the property remotely. It will give me peace of mind when I take a holiday in France and Spain.

4. 2K Picture Quality and Colorful Night Vision

Because of the wide-angle lens, there is excellent visual coverage in the clear, sharp picture. The camera copes faultlessly with the range of daylight to dusk lighting. Of course, there is a built-in light for complete darkness, and you can switch to black and white from colour for increased image clarity. When the camera detects movement at night, the lights will come on automatically. Helps you see more clearly.

5. Accurate Motion Detection

An interesting feature that I haven’t seen with other cameras is the artificial intelligence filtering you can choose to switch on in settings, so only humans are detected. Anything else like cars, pets, swaying tree branches can then be ignored and won’t trigger an alarm. What a great idea! It also has the typical, less sophisticated, PIR detector that other cameras and security lights have.

6. Customize Detection Area

In settings, you can also define a particular region of the scene that detects movement. For example, you might only want the activity at a specific doorway to be triggered in an otherwise busy scene.

7. Monitor Property with Family Together

If you have several of these cameras to monitor different areas or rooms, this is easily handled for you by the app. Different users can also be specified so the monitoring can be shared. I haven’t seen any other cameras setups do this.

8. SD Card Storage and No Subscription Fee

I wondered what SD cards would be suitable. A 16GB card could hold either 10,000 photos OR about 12 hours of video with sound. Typically, a video clip might be about 10 seconds long unless you change the setting. But the camera is compatible with SD card up to 128GB. Users can choose the capacity of the SD card to suit their needs. I discovered that when the card is full, the new recording writes over the earliest recording.

9. Siren Spotlight Alert

I quite like the idea of a bright warning light being activated, only at night, to warn off intruders. Almost as satisfying as telling them, over the device’s loudspeaker, to clear off! If you choose, you can set the device to emit a siren sound. A brilliant response if you are in an isolated area, away from neighbours.

10. Great 100~120 Days Battery Life

I haven’t been able to measure the battery life, but it drops about 1% per day in my less active environment. So I assume the battery life can last 100~120 days. This feature is very important to me, because I don’t need to take it down to recharge frequently, helping me save a lot of time and hassel. But I found that if you constantly monitor the action or camera is triggered by movement frequently, as you would expect, your camera battery runs down much quicker.

All in all, I think this is a valued camera at a great price. I would recommend this ZS-GX3S camera to others who want an easy set up camera with various features.
